Interlude is a meditative iOS app designed for ephemeral, anonymous connection through drawing. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Our Philosophy

Interlude is built on ephemerality. Nothing you create is permanently stored. The app facilitates moments of connection without creating a digital archive.

Information We Collect

1. Anonymous User Data

Anonymous User ID: Firebase generates an anonymous identifier for each device
Username: You provide a username which is temporarily stored during your session
Purpose: To enable the presence system and real-time synchronization
Retention: Automatically cleared when you close the app or after 10 seconds of inactivity

2. Drawing Data

Trail Coordinates: Your finger movements on the canvas are transmitted in real-time
Purpose: To display your drawing to other users and detect collisions
Retention: Trails automatically disappear after 5 seconds. No drawing data is permanently stored

3. Technical Data

Firebase Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics (app opens, session duration)
Crash Reports: Anonymous technical data if the app crashes
Purpose: To improve app stability and performance

What We Do NOT Collect

How We Use Information

Enable Real-Time Features: Synchronize drawing trails between users
Presence System: Display which users are currently active

Bug Fixes: Use crash reports to identify and fix technical issues

Data Sharing

No Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties

No Tracking: We do not track you across other apps or websites

Data Security

All data is transmitted using secure HTTPS connections

Your Rights

No Account: You don't create an account, so there's no profile to access or delete
Immediate Deletion: Simply close the app, and all your data is cleared
Uninstall: Deleting the app removes all local data immediately

Children's Privacy

Interlude is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app uses only anonymous identifiers and ephemeral data. No accounts are created, and no personal information is requested.

Push Notifications

If you grant permission, Interlude may send you one optional daily notification to invite you to a moment of connection. You can disable this at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Interlude.

Data Retention

Drawing Trails: 5 seconds, then automatically deleted
User Presence: 10 seconds of inactivity, then automatically cleared
Session Data: Cleared when app is closed
Analytics: Anonymous usage statistics only
